Each Spring the Guild holds a juried exhibition for its members.
The 2025 Exhibition theme was 'Shapeshifter'.
In this exhibition, SPG members were challenged to explore by finding their own voice or
identity within the theme. Possibilities included creating unique works by:
● changing the original form using reshaping, angles or curves
● depicting a shift they would like to see in their own work -
pushing it forward or choosing to represent a political or societal shift
● taking on a new body of work and exploring and shifting ideas, plans and thoughts
The juror was Barbara Goretzky, based out of Lumsden, Saskatchewan. Barbara is a versatile artist working in ceramics, painting and printmaking. A number of years ago, by chance, she took an class at the Guild which led her into a successful line of raku fired wall pieces, hand built water fountains , bird bath and garden planters. She has marketed her work across Canada. In 1989 Barbara was a Doris Tweddell award winner in SPG's annual juried exhibition! Seeking to to reconnect with her artistic voice, Barbara returned to University and earned a BFA in painting. Since then she has participated in numerous art residencies and has had several solo exhibitions.
Best Overall, Functional and Decorative Awards were sponsored by T&T TREE Pottery. Thank you.

Clay, wax, gloss glaze

This work is part of a series on ageism, aging. … never thought my feet would do this to me – shift shape: widen, flatten, grow in odd places, render comfortable shoes to become a poor fit, cause pain with every step. When my feet hurt, I did hurt all over.
